FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball team hit a season-high .350 and improved to 18-3 in non-conference play at home over the last four years after sweeping UC Davis at the North Gym this evening.
Hitting better than .300 for the fourth time on the year, the Bulldogs notched their eighth sweep of the season as they defeated the Aggies 30-22, 30-20 and 30-24.
Spearheading the offense was junior setter Robyn Keune, who collected her fourth double-double of the year after dishing out 35 assists and tallying 10 digs.
On the receiving end of the sets was freshman outside hitter Christianna Reneau, who posted a match-high 18 kills to go along with six digs while hitting .273.
Senior middle blocker Tiffany Bishop hit a match-high .727 (9-1-11) and had a block while sophomore outside hitter Tuli Peters added eight kills and 12 digs to go along with two blocks and a .533 (8-0-15) hitting efficiency. Freshman outside hitter Mounia Nihipali also chipped in eight kills while picking up two aces, two blocks and eight digs. Freshman libero Yuko Mori was the third and final Bulldog to collect at least 10 digs after finishing with 10 on the night.
UC Davis, which fell to 2-19 overall, was led by Rachel Keener's seven kills. Mary McClelland had a match-high 22 digs for the Aggies.
"Tonight we saw a little slower tempo and we had to adjust," Fresno State volleyball head coach Lindy Vivas said. "We still were able to work on things from our end as well as take advantage of getting more experience for others.
"I thought Robyn (Keune) did a good job tonight," Vivas stated. "She was stable on the court for us. Christianna (Reneau) is always good. She had a great swing tonight.
"Tonight we focused on executing our strategies," Vivas added. "The team has been playing well the last several weeks and, as I said before, we just needed more experience. The team is doing a nice job of answering back and responding to challenges; they're maturing nicely."
