FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State continues its tough road stretch Thursday against Louisiana Tech. When these two teams last met, the Bulldogs were in the middle of their season-long seven-game winning streak. But fortunes have changed since. Fresno State comes in having lost three of its last four and now stands at 10-8 (6-3 WAC) and in a tie for fourth place in the league standings. La Tech is 10-9 (4-5) and has won two of its last three.
Tech leads the all-time series 5-4, although Fresno State has won three of the past four. The Bulldogs also won the meeting earlier this year, played at the Save Mart Center, 61-40. The two teams first met in the 1984 NCAA Tournament, when Karl Malone-led Louisiana Tech defeated Fresno State 66-56. The Bulldogs are 1-2 all-time at the Thomas Assembly Center, including a miraculous 61-60 win a year ago.
This current road trip brings a conclusion to one of the more important stretches of the season for Fresno State. The Bulldogs are currently 2-3 on a string that has them playing five of seven away from home. In addition, tonight is the second of the annual three-game WAC road trip, one that began last week with an 84-65 loss at Nevada. The schedule does become more friendly following the current road trip. Fresno State plays six of its final eight games - and then the WAC Tournament - at home.
