Track and Field Wraps Up Competition With Cal State Bakersfield

FRESNO, Calif.- The Fresno State track and field squad produced several impressive performances in Saturday afternoon's non-scoring dual meet against Cal State Bakersfield at Warmerdam Field.Saturday's meet featured performances from alumni of both schools, and also included a senior tribute at the midway point of the meet. Overall, Fresno State was well-represented in almost every event, locking up the first-place spot in 22 of the 35 competitions.
Among the highlights on the men's side: senior Joe Vasquez (Selma, Calif.) notching a career-best 54-1.75/16.50m in the shot put and 187-4/57.10 in the javelin; junior Chris Berrian (Winton, Calif.) establishing a new personal-best in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.22 and junior Sean Marzolf (Lodi, Calif.) improving his 800-meter time by a whole minute at 1:51.94.
Women's highlights included: sophomore La'Sha Hill (Oakland, Calif.) qualifying for NCAA Regionals with a career-high toss of 47-1.75/14.37m in the shot put; freshman Lacey Gooch (Fresno, Calif.) improving her 400-meter run time to a team-best 58.25; sophomore Stacy Hunt (Fresno, Calif.) establishing a new personal-best vault with a 11-4.25/3.46m andWinnie Fletcher recording a personal-best and team-high 5.45m in the long jump.
