West Coast Relays conclude with Bulldog win

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State track and field turned in a strong showing at the West Coast Relays in the Central Valley this weekend, capturing three event titles and posting multiple personal-best performances.
The Bulldogs secured victories in the women's hammer throw and high jump, and men's 4x400 relay.
Fresno State opened competition Friday at Warmerdam Field with a win in the hammer throw, as senior Zoe Yeast claimed her second title of the season with a mark of 58.19m (190-11). Fellow senior Tearra Haney added a personal-best performance, placing third at 54.28m (178-1).
Haney continued her momentum into Saturday, opening day two with a third-place finish in the javelin (43.07m/141-3) at Veterans Memorial Stadium. She later added a runner-up finish in the discus, recording a throw of 46.92m (153-11) on her first attempt.
On the track, Rhiannon Walker led the Bulldogs in the women's 1500m with a fourth-place time of 4:35.20. In the men's race, sophomore Jacob Diaz clocked a personal-best 3:56.25 to finish eighth, earning his second top-10 finish of the season.
Fresh off her Mountain West indoor title, Liz Tarczy made an immediate impact in her outdoor debut. The senior won the high jump with a clearance of 1.82m (5-11.5), nearly six inches higher than the runner-up. She also placed fifth in the long jump at 5.75m (18-10.5), debuting in the event for the first time of her collegiate career..
Jabari King continued his consistent season in the long jump, placing second with a career-best leap of 7.51m (24-7.75), achieved on his final attempt.
Freshman Breelyn Newsome improved her 100m hurdles time for the third consecutive meet, finishing fifth in 14.52 -- lowering her personal best by 0.06 seconds.
The Bulldogs placed two athletes in the top 10 of the 800m, with Chiara Pedol finishing fifth (2:14.69) and Hannah Pacheco taking seventh (2:14.93).
Jai'ya Jones and Zoa-Analia Goldsmith also earned top-10 finishes in the 200m. Jones clocked 24.66, while Goldsmith recorded a collegiate-best 24.75.
In the field events, Josh Dunu placed second in the triple jump with a lifetime-best mark of 15.02m (49-3.5), the program's longest jump since 2024.
The meet concluded with the 4x400 relays. The women's team finished fourth in 3:57.21, while the men's quartet of Bronson Ortlieb, Corey Ford, Elijah Williams and Joziah Hagedorn closed out the weekend with a victory, posting a season-best 3:16.64.
