Trevor Chatterton Sets Out To Defend WAC Decathlon Title

HOUSTON- Searching for his second straight conference decathlon title, senior Trevor Chatterton (Concord, Calif.) currently stands in second place with 3,363 total points through the first day of competition at the 2004 WAC Outdoor Championships in Houston, Texas.
Fresno State's top decathlete threat, Chatterton finds himself trailing Rice's Ryan Harlan (4,089 points) after the opening day of action. Harlan took first in all five events (100-meters, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meters) on Wednesday evening, while Chatterton placed second in the high jump, long jump and 100-meter run.
Freshman Roy Phelps (Coalinga, Calif.) stands in third overall with 3,129 points, collecting three third-place finishes in the process. Sophomore Alan Floresca (Juneau, Alaska) is sixth with 2,689 points and Humberto Hernandez is seventh with 2,565.
In the women's heptathlon, sophomore Tonisha Henson (Long Beach, Calif.) is the Bulldog's lone representative. She checks in ninth overall with 2,383 points. Her best finish of the night came in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 15.64.
The decathlon and heptathlon portions of the meet conclude Thursday evening.
