Bulldogs Win Second Straight Over Hawai'i, 8-4

HONOLULU - Brandon Miller scattered two runs on five hits over six innings to lift Fresno State to 8-4 win over Hawaii Friday at Murakami Stadium. Miller (5-3) earned his team high tying fifth win of the year, striking out one while walking two.
\The Bulldogs improved to 24-28 overall and 12-11 in the WAC while the Rainbows slipped to 29-19 on the season and 12-11 in conference play.
Michael Cooper pitched the final three innings to notch his second save of the season. Cooper allowed two runs on three hits while striking out four.
Sophomore outfielder Richie Robnett gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly to right, plating senior infielder Ryan Haag who led off the game with a double. With the hit, Haag extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Freshman outfielder Nick Moresi blasted a three-run homer over the center field fence in the second to give the club a 4-0 advantage. Moresi's homer was his seventh of the year.
Robnett pushed his hitting streak to 26 games with a third inning double. The double was his 22nd of the season, tying him for eighth on the school's single season list with Eddie Zosky (1988), Steve Pearse ('88), Matt Curtis ('95) and Brandon Gemoll ('01). After the Rainbows scratched out single runs in the second and third innings, Fresno State pushed the lead back to four with a pair of runs in the fourth. Haag doubled again to plate Moresi and Patrick drove in Haag with a single.
Fresno State scored one in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Haag and one in the ninth on a run scoring single from Brandon Esparza.
Isaac Omura (2-4) hit his second home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth for the Rainbows.
UH starter Stephen Bryant (7-4) was touched for six runs on eight hits and three walks to suffer his fourth loss of the year.
