Equestrian Claims High Point Title At First Show Of Spring Season

DAVIS, Calif. - Fresno State claimed high point accolades at its spring season opener Jan. 15 in an English show hosted by UC Davis. The Bulldogs tallied nine top-three finishes during the competition.
In the Equitation Over Fences division, junior Amy Simmons was second in the Open class and senior Leyla Mundy finished second in the Intermediate class. Senior Emily Brown captured second and sophomore Shannon Ragsdale third in the Novice section.
Freshman Anne Schroeder finished third in the Open class of the Equitation on the Flat competition while Mundy claimed the title for the Intermediate section, followed by junior Rebecca Legris in third.
The final events of the show garnered two additional third-place finishes from junior Stacey Jo McCalmont in Beginning Walk-Trot-Canter and sophomore Ashley Peterson in Walk-Trot Equitation on the Flat.
Fresno State returns to action Jan. 22 when it travels to Blythewood, S.C., for a head-to-head competition with South Carolina.
