'Dogs fall to TCU in Big 12 Championship semifinal

STILLWATER, Okla. - The No. 2 seed Fresno State equestrian team fell to the No. 3 seed TCU in the semifinal round of the Big 12 Equestrian Championship on Friday afternoon, 13-7. The Bulldogs move to 7-5 overall this season, and await seedings for the NCEA National Championship in April.Â

Fresno State opened with just two points in the first two events, first taking a point from Sage Lindvall in the fences. Lindvall earned her point with an 81-79 win. The Bulldogs earned the second point of the first two events from Aubrey Gerdes in horsemanship. She scored a 73.33 to her opponent's 73.167 for a narrow edging.

Fresno State picked up two points in the reining. Alana Becker earned the first with a 71-67.16 ride. Shelby Robinette followed up with a 68.33-65.33 win. TCU took the other three points, but didn't win one point by more than half a point in the score averages.

Fresno State had strong first-half rides in the flat, leading to a 3-2 win in the event. Lindvall went undefeated on the day, opening the flat with a 77-75 win. Autumn Bradbury and Molly Stewart closed the meet with back-to-back points for Fresno State. Bradbury scored a 79 to her opponent's 72, and Stewart's first-half 80.66 was enough to hold off TCU's 74.33 attempt.
