FRESNO, Calif. - Coming off one of the more thrilling victories in recent history, Fresno State begins a two-game road trip Thursday at 5 p.m. PT with a game at Rice. The Bulldogs, who are 11-4 (5-1 WAC) and reside in a first place tie with Nevada in the conference standings, enter with momentum after upsetting UTEP on Saturday 66-63 on a 30-foot buzzer-beating jumper by Ja'Vance Coleman. The Owls are 9-4 (4-1 WAC) and are a half-game out of first place. They are 7-0 at home this year and have won their last two overall.
The Bulldogs are in the midst of one of the toughest stretches of the season. It started Saturday with a 66-63 home victory over preseason league favorite UTEP. This week, Fresno State begins a string of three consecutive road games with a Rice team that is just one half game out of first place in the WAC. Things continue Saturday with a contest at Tulsa and then wrap up Jan. 29 at Nevada, which is currently tied with the Bulldogs for first in the league standings.
Fresno State finishes up its current road trip Saturday with a game at Tulsa. The Bulldogs and Golden Hurricane will hook up at 11 a.m. PT in a game that will be televised by KFRE WB 59 (cable 5).
