Bulldogs Claim Western Title at Cal Poly Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - Led by outstanding junior Brenna Burris, the Bulldog Equestrian team won the Western High Point team title at the Cal Poly Invitational Saturday, held at the Cal Poly Equestrian Center. It marked the 11th team title for Fresno State this season.
Burris, who won her fourth straight High Point Individual title by winning the Reining and Western Horsemanship, has won the season-long High Point title for Region 8. She has been selected to participate in the AQHA Tough Rider show during the IHSA National Championships. She edged teammate Beth Knapp by two points to win the regional title. Knapp placed second in Reining and third in Open Horsemanship.
Several Bulldog English riders also performed well. Amy Simmons placed third in Open Fences, followed by Anne Schroeder in fifth. Schroeder also placed fourth in the Open Flat. Leyla Mundy was third in both Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat. Jacklyn Alewyn was fourth in Advance Walk/Trot/Canter. Kristina Chancholo was second in the Novice Flat followed by Shannon Ragsdale in third. Ashley Peterson placed third in Walk/Trot. No team results were available for the English competition.
More Fresno State returns to action March 11 when they host the University of South Carolina at the Fresno State Horse Center.
