Utah Head Coach Elaine Elliott: It was a game of two halves. I liked our shots in the first half and we distributed the ball extremely well. We felt if they would cool off and they did and we would hit a few more shots and we did. Shona did a good job in distributing the ball and then making threes. I felt we had to score so I went small with our best shooters on the floor. Julie helped so much with her shooting. I thought we played patient and together. I was a proud of the effort. I have great respect for Bill?s teams and what he tries to do. There is nothing that can change the game as when you start making shots. Once we did and got ahead the confidence was ours. Until that time I don't think they thought we could win As for Stanford we played them in the opening game and were competitive. They are a great team as any No. 2 seed team would be.
Utah Kim Smith: We were just cold the first half (on three pointers) but we are not a bashful team. Our first half shots were good they just didn't go in. The second half they began to go in. Julie gave us a huge momentum in the second half with three or four threes in a row.
Utah Julie Wood: Yeah I hit two jumpers just before the end of the first half. I guess that boosted my confidence. I had to shoot my way out of the slump.
Iowa State Head Coach Bill Fennelly: They're an outstanding team. We wish them the best of luck. They shot the ball great in the second half. We were changing defenses as often as we could. Julie (Wood) made great shots. When you hit the three, it really changes the game. They were hard to match up to. They knocked down some big shots. We played well for most of the first half. They played really well at the end of the first half, and give them credit. When we had the lead, I thought we could limp it to the end. It's hard because they have a lot of weapons. We had four or five open shots that didn't go down and theirs did. That's the game. That's basketball. Their offense created more problems for us than their defense did. I told our seniors, 'Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.' They should have a big smile at the end of this.
Iowa State Katie Robinette: They had a huge second half. We couldn't stick with them. We tried to play at a quicker pace but they were the better team in the second half.
Iowa Anne O'Neil: At the beginning of the year, our goal is to go to the NCAA's and we did. We got a 20-win season. When we look back, we'll be very happy with what we've done. Looking back and thinking about our teammates and the friendships, it's been a lot of fun.
