Fresno, Calif. - Beau Mills was selected as a first-team "Louisville Slugger" Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. Mills, a Visalia native, was a first team All-WAC selection as well as being named WAC Freshman of the Year.
The Bulldogs starting third baseman for the season, Mills hit .319 on the season with 22 home runs and 63 RBI on the year. Mills led the WAC in home runs and RBI, and his 22 home runs in 59 games ranks 8th nationally in home runs per game. In addition, Mills was in the top five in the conference in runs scored (54, 2nd), triples, (2, 5th,) slugging percentage (.699, 1st) and was 10th overall in batting average. He was also intentionally walked 10 times during the season.
In addition to Mills' WAC honors, he was selected to Baseball America's Midseason All-American team, and was one of 36 players invited to the Team USA tryouts to be held at the end of the month.
Mills' selection marks the third Fresno State player to be named a "Louisville Slugger" All-American in the past two years. Last season, both shortstop Christian Vitters and Outfielder Nick Moresi garnered the honor.
Collegiate Baseball is the first publication to announce their Freshman All-American Selections. Baseball America also selects a Freshman All-American team, which will be announced later this month.
