Fresno State head coach Pat Hill
General thoughts...
"I was very happy that we played well early in the game and very happy that a lot of players got a lot of playing time. I wasn't very happy with the second half intensity. It's tough in a game like that to maintain focus and intensity. We will need all of it next week for a big game at Oregon."
On Paul Pinegar...
"I thought Paul Pinegar played exceptionally well. He's really matured and come into his own and I think he's going to have a special season. His numbers were very good for a half of action and he was nearly flawless."
On the excitement of Clifton Smith...
"Clifton Smith is a freak show. We've known that for sometime. He didn't play much on offense tonight but that will come. He's just a special, special player who I think is going to keep giving us big plays all season long."
On next week's game at Oregon...
"We have a big challenge next week. Oregon is the biggest game of the week. They are playing well. We have played well there twice but it wasn't good enough. We will have to play well next week."
Weber State head coach Ron McBride
General thoughts...
"Not only were they a better football team, they were better than us mentally and physically. We did some things mentally that were uncalled for and put us in a hole and that just does not give you a chance to play. I knew that Fresno State was a very good football team and I knew that if we did not play smart enough, we would give them opportunities. They have too much skill and you can't give them opportunities to do things."
On his young team suffering a lop-sided defeat...
"This is a learning process for our football team and it's a matter of learning how to grow up and accept responsibility...In order for us to be the kind of football program that we are trying to be, we have to mature as a group of people. And that's the bottom line. Fresno State could have scored more if they wanted to but they kind of went conservative in the second half and we started to play better."
Reacting to turnover on first play from scrimmage...
"Sure it's tough but you've got to overcome those things. Even after the interception, the defense has to go out and force a sudden change and you have to put a stop to it. You can't go out there and give up a big play right after that."
On Fresno State's special teams...
"We gave up two scores on kick returns. We had a guy pinned over there at one time against the sidelines and we must have missed eight tackles. Both of those kick returns are inexcusable. Fresno State does a good job with special teams, they are well-coached and if you are going to match up with them in that area, you have to be that much better."
