Sainz, Winterhalter Capture Doubles Title of Bulldog Classic

Fresno, Calif. - Seniors Lucia Sainz and Katharina Winterhalter won the doubles title of the Bulldog Classic Sunday afternoon at the Wathen Tennis Center. The Bulldogs partners beat Pacific's Natalia Kostenko and Vana Mrazovic 8-0. Meanwhile in the singles championship, Sacramento State's Margarita Kharnaukhova defeated Winterhalter in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
To reach the title match, Winterhalter topped teammate Sainz , while Kharnaukova beat Fresno Pacific's Angelina Minova in the other semifinal.
Overall, the Bulldogs played well in their own tournament. Four women reached the quarterfinals, Winterhalter, Sainz, sophomore Jacqui Haskett and freshman Bruna Paes.
