Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State's Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh has announced the appointment of two new members of the Fresno State Compliance staff. John Lucier has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Cynthia D'Amico has been hired as Compliance Assistant.
Lucier has served as the Grants-in-Aid coordinator at the University of Oregon since 1995. In that position, he had oversight of all athletics and non-athletics financial aid, maintained squad lists for 17 sports using the NCAA Compliance Assistant software program and was the National Letter of Intent administrator.
He was responsible for conducting team eligibility meetings, and assisted with initial and continuing eligibility. He also served on Oregon's Faculty Board of Directors.
"John's experience in the internal workings of the compliance operations at the University of Oregon will benefit Fresno State," said Betsy Mosher, Fresno State's Senior Associate Athletics Director. "He has a great understanding of the needs of our department and I believe will provide excellent leadership in the compliance unit."
He served as a graduate assistant in the compliance office at Oregon from 1992-93 and has worked on a variety of fund raising projects at the school.
A 1992 graduate of Oregon, Lucier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Tourism Management.
D'Amico comes to Fresno State from Gulf South Research Corporation, where she served as a report editor and coordinator since 2003. She was responsible for the research and writing socioeconomic materials for Federal environmental documents.
Prior to that, she served in several positions at Ohio University, including graduate assistant for marketing and in the Bobcat Football office in the area of operations. D'Amico worked for the Southeastern Conference in the summer of 2002 in championships and has experience as an event coordinator at LSU.
A graduate of Vanderbilt, with a degree in Anthropology and Fine Arts, D'Amico earned both an MBA and a Master's Degree in Sports Administration and Facility Management from Ohio in 2003.
"Cindy has a great desire to be involved in intercollegiate athletics," said Mosher. "These hires should allow us to be more efficient and better meet the needs of the institution, our student-athletes, coaches and staff."
