FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Director of Athletics Garrett Klassy announced Tuesday that Dustin Williams has been hired as Senior Associate AD for Sports Medicine & Athletic Health Care Administrator (AHCA). Williams will also serve as a member of the department's Executive Leadership Team.
Â
Williams has a long history of sports medicine and athletic training at the collegiate and professional levels. He joins the Fresno State staff from BYU where he served as the Associate Director of Olympic Sports: ATC since 2018. He spent over 10 years in roles at BYU with a previous stint from 2006-11. He also has collegiate experience at Arizona and Utah State, rounding out his 20-year Division I career to this point.
Â
Williams is also currently a member of the Executive Committee of Sports Medicine and Science for USA Track & Field, an organization he has been a part of since 2013 in various roles. He has served on four Olympic Team medical staffs, one Paralympic staff, and was the Head Athletic Trainer for six World Championship USA track and field teams. In his role with the Olympic teams, he coordinated the preparation, strategic planning, and day-to-day management of the USA Track and Field medical staff with the USOPC staff.
Â
Fresno State recently elevated the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Athletics Health Care Administrator position to the executive leadership level, reflecting the department's continued commitment to prioritizing student-athlete health, safety and performance. The role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, and Strength & Conditioning (Sports Performance).
Â
In this capacity, Williams will also play a key role in ensuring the department's multidisciplinary student-athlete well-being program is fully integrated by ensuring collaboration and alignment across sports medicine, sports nutrition, sports performance, mental health services, sport psychology, and other student-athlete health and wellness resources to support a comprehensive, holistic care model.
Â
Additionally, Williams will lead a department-wide action plan informed by a recent comprehensive on-site assessment conducted by the U.S. Council for Athletes' Health (USCAH). USCAH provides athlete health, safety, and well-being consultation, education, and compliance services through a nationally recognized team with more than 300 years of combined experience in athletics health care and administration. Their independent review evaluated Fresno State Athletics' medical delivery systems, support area resources, mental health care services, minimum standards, and best practices in comparison with peer institutions, and those findings will help guide Fresno State Athletics in continuing to strengthen and enhance the highest standards of health care, safety, and wellness for all student-athletes.
Â
Williams will begin in his role on January 26, 2026.
