Boise, Idaho - Chastin West's kickoff return for a touchdown was the first of his career and the first by a Bulldog since the 2005 season opener when Clifton Smith scored on an 84-yard return.
Senior receiver Joe Fernandez caught his 14th career touchdown, giving him sole possession of 10th place on the Bulldog career record list.
Dwayne Wright surpassed the 2,000-yard mark for his career. Wright has 2,032 yards in his career after posting 868 rushing yards tonight.
Fresno State's first interception of the season was a big one for Damon Jenkins, who not only got the first of his career, but took it 56 yards for a touchdown. The last time a Bulldog scored on an interception return was Nov. 6, 2004 when Richard Marshall scored on against Rice.
The Dogs are now 5-5 in their last 10 games in the Mountain Time Zone.
Sophomore right guard Cole Popovich returned to action, starting the Boise State game. He had been out since suffering an injury in the Washington game.
With the loss the Bulldogs can not get bowl eligible ending the west's longest bowl streak at seven years.
The Bulldogs return home Nov. 11 to host New Mexico State. The game will begin at 2 p.m.. Tickets are available at www.gobulldogs.com.
Fresno State Head Coach Pat Hill:
"I've said it all year, Boise's a heck of a team. I have great respect for their program and I want to see them run the table and make it to a BCS bowl game. It would be great for the WAC and they deserve it."
"We had some chances tonight, but Boise State made some big plays, especially early in the ball game. The fake punt really hurt. We held them to some third and longs and they converted. That's a confident football team over there and they know how to make big plays,"
"Give our players some credit. They never quit. Even down 38-7 we battled back and got back in the ball game. We just didn't have enough big plays to make it happen tonight. We will come back and keep working hard and get ready for New Mexico State in 10 days. We are having a down season but we will be back."
