Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's basketball teams spent Tuesday afternoon at the Children's Hospital Central California spreading holiday cheer with Fresno State hats, stuffed animals and posters for many kids and employees at the hospital.
"This is what the holidays are all about, we enjoy spending time with the kids and showing our support," Fresno State junior guard Kevin Bell said. "It's great to see the smiles on all their faces."
Fresno State men's and women's teams walked through the hospital, stopping at different rehabilitation centers and individual rooms. The players signed autographs, handed out gifts and a special appearance by Fresno State mascot Timeout surprised everyone.
"It's a great event and we enjoy getting out in the community and showing them that we care for them," Fresno State senior center Jenny Thigpin said. "It's a great opportunity and we look forward to this day. It's great to see the smile on the kid's faces."
The Bulldogs are looking forward to January 22, when the men's team hosts San Jose State. That night will feature a partnership program Fresno State has with the Children's Hospital, with as many kids from the program in attendance as possible. It should be a great time for everyone.
Fresno State head and assistants coaches, along with all of the players from both teams, were joined by the Fresno State staff at the hospital.
