FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State opened competition at two different indoor meets on Friday afternoon, representing the program with split squads at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado and Bill Cosby Open in Reno, Nev.
At the 16th annual Air Force Invitational, several Bulldogs advanced out of the preliminaries and into Saturday's event finals. In the 200-meter dash, Christina Lopez checked in with the sixth-best time of 25.72. Renee Winston and Erica McCoy both reached the finals of the 400-meter dash, as Winston ran a 58.41 to finish sixth in the prelims while McCoy posted a 59.35 to take 10th with the top 12 participants moving on to the next round.
Zinzi Evans crossed the line at 2:27.34 in the 800-meter dash, good for fourth overall. Meanwhile, Tonisha Henson placed ninth in the pentathlon with 3,036 points.
Other members of the squad were in action at the Bill Cosby Open in Reno, Nev. Stacy Hunt finished fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-4.25 (3.46m) while the distance medley relay team took second overall with a time of 13:14.30.
Competition in both meets resumes early Saturday morning.
