Fresno State Draws New Mexico State In WAC Tournament

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State (22-6, 14-2 WAC) has drawn the No. 2 seed in next week's WAC Tournament and will face No. 7 seed New Mexico State (8-19, 5-11 WAC) on Wednesday, Mar. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Bulldogs have won four straight and nine of their last 10. Saturday's 73-48 victory over Nevada was Fresno State's 22nd win of the year, matching the program record for victories in a season.
Fresno State's second-place WAC showing is the best conference finish in school history. In addition, 17 of the Bulldog's 22 wins have come by double-digit margins.
Fresno State swept the season series against New Mexico State this year, winning 68-52 on Jan. 12 in Fresno and 77-61 on Jan. 26 in Las Cruces.
Idaho and Utah State are the Nos. 8 and 9 seeds, respectively, and will match up in the play-in game on Tuesday night. Wednesday's other quarterfinal contests include: No. 1 Louisiana Tech vs. No. 8 Idaho or No. 9 Utah State, No. 3 Hawai'i vs. No. 6 Boise State and No. 4 San Jose State vs. No. 5 Nevada.
