Two Bulldogs Selected To WAC Softball All-Tournament Team

FRESNO, Calif. - Senior shortstop Christina Clark (Santa Ana, Calif.) and freshman pitcher/utility player Robin Mackin (Newmarket, Ontario) were selected to the 11-member 2006 Western Athletic Conference Softball All-Tournament Team.
Clark hit .333 (4-12) with four runs, two doubles, a RBI and six total bases for a .500 slugging percentage. She finished second among all tournament participants in runs while sharing tourney-high honors in doubles.
Selected at the utility position, Mackin led the Bulldogs with a .400 batting average as she went 4-10 with a sacrifice fly and had a team-high three RBI. Mackin finished fourth in the tournament in hitting while sharing tournament-high honors in RBI. In the circle, she had the second most strikeouts (27) while being one of five pitchers to post a victory.
As a team, Fresno State batted a tournament-best .306, was second in fielding (.959) and third in pitching (2.21).
Fresno State, which also served as the tournament host in 1999, is 4-2 in championship play with one tournament title in the two years of participation.
The Bulldogs (35-17) will wait to see if they receive an NCAA postseason at-large bid to the 64-tournament field tomorrow. The NCAA will announce the field and 16 regional sites at 12:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m., EDT) on ESPNews.
