Sadiaa Jones Named Women's Basketball Assistant Coach

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball head coach Adrian Wiggins has announced the addition of Sadiaa Jones as assistant coach for the 2006-07 season.
Jones, who spent the last year as an assistant coach at Georgia Tech, will serve as the Bulldog's recruiting coordinator and work with the post players.
"I'm thrilled to have Sadiaa on board as we prepare for next season," said Wiggins. "Sadiaa is a young, energetic assistant with a strong reputation as a recruiter. She is a tireless worker and her experience in the ACC and Conference USA will be a great addition to our program."
A native of Elk City, Okla., Jones was responsible for the development of the Yellow Jacket forwards during her tenure at Georgia Tech. In addition, she supervised the offseason strength and conditioning program and served as the team's academic liaison.
Prior to Georgia Tech, Jones served two stints at South Florida and another at Illinois-Chicago. During her appointment as an assistant coach at USF in 2005, Jones was responsible for recruiting, game preparation and breakdown, team community service and was also the academic liaison. In what was her second stint with the program after serving in the same capacity for the Bulls in 2001 and 2002, the 2005 team went 21-10 and reached the second round of the WNIT.
In 2003-04, Jones served as an assistant coach at Illinois-Chicago. While at UIC, Jones helped the Flames to a second-place Horizon League finish in 2003 with their highest win total since the mid-1990's, with an overall mark of 17-11 and an 11-5 record in league play.
Jones earned her bachelors degree in health and physical education and recreation with a minor in communications in 1999 from Southeastern Oklahoma State, where she averaged more than 10 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a senior while garnering all-conference honors in 1998 and 1999. While at SOS, she played for current Fresno State assistant coach Brett Frank.
Fresno State finished 24-8 overall in 2005-06, representing the best season in school history. The `Dogs qualified for the postseason for the second straight season and recorded two convincing home victories before falling 64-61 at eventual champion Kansas State in the WNIT. The memorable season featured numerous highlights which included: a 15-1 home record, second-place WAC finish and 20 double-digit victories.
