Mackin Selected Xbox Live WAC Hitter of the Week

Fresno State softball pitcher/utility player Robin Mackin (Newmarket, Ontario) was selected the Xbox Live Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, making it the first time that she has been selected as a hitter and sixth time on the year in which she has been honored with a weekly conference award.
For the third straight week, Mackin led the Bulldogs offensively. With a trio of multiple hit road games at San Jose State, she batted .583 (7-12) with three runs, three doubles, a home run, three RBI, a .583 on-base percentage and 13 total bases for a 1.083 slugging percentage.
In the game-by-game breakdown, Mackin went 2-4 with a run in the first game before going 2-4 with a double in game two and 3-4 with two runs, two doubles, a home run and three RBI in the finale. Helping the `Dogs to their third consecutive WAC title and ninth in the last 11 years, she connected for her ninth and tenth double of the season in the finale which clinched the title outright for Fresno State. Mackin also hit her fourth home run on the season in the finale as the Bulldogs finished the year with a 12-3 league mark.
In game one, she scored the lone run for Fresno State after scoring from first on a RBI double. In game three, she also hit her first two-run home run of the season and put the `Dogs up 2-0 as the third batter in the first inning before notching a RBI double in the fourth for a 6-0 lead.
Mackin, who now has 13 multiple hit and seven multiple RBI games on the season, also boasts a current and season-high eight-game hitting streak. In this stretch she is batting .552 (16-29) with five runs, four doubles, a home run, six RBI, 1-1 stolen base and 23 total bases for a .793 slugging percentage.
With two or more hits in six of her last eight games, Mackin also has a current streak of five straight multiple hit games. In this streak, she is batting .632 (12-19) with four runs, three doubles, a home run, five RBI, 1-1 stolen base and 18 total bases for a .947 slugging percentage and a .632 on-base percentage. Raising her batting average to .313, Mackin has a team-high 13 2-out RBI games while ranking fourth on the team in hits (42), runs (24), home runs (4) and RBI (26).
This week, Fresno State hosts the 2006 WAC Softball Championship Tournament, which runs Thu.-Sat., May 11-13, at Bulldog Diamond. The Bulldogs will play at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday against the winner of the Nevada/Hawai'i vs. New Mexico State game.
