As Fresno State's football program continues to earn headlines for academic achievement bowl success, head coach Pat Hill has found the summer football camps housed on campus are more popular than ever.
This summer nearly 2,000 players and coaches will participate in the Fresno State summer camps, which have grown into one of the largest football camps in California. In all 24 high school teams from California and Nevada will comprise the two one-week football camp sessions that began Saturday, June 17.
"The summer camps are great for our program," said Hill, who continues to harvest the best high school football players from the Valley. "It is a great opportunity for young people to visit our campus and community who may not otherwise get the opportunity. It's a great way to showcase our program, facilities and tradition. It's also a great opportunity for our coaching staff work with high school coaches and players, which is important for development of relationships."
Many former and current Bulldogs have been discovered during the Fresno State summer camps, including offensive lineman Charlie Robbins (Bullard High School), defensive end Tyler Clutts (Clovis) and quarterback Tom Brandstater (Turlock).
There will be evening scrimmages held during the camps through Saturday, June 24, at the Bulldog Practice Facility and are open to the public.
