Scouting Loyola Marymount
Loyola Marymount has a 4-4 record and is led by the play of Amanda Decoud's 9.9 points a game. Lisa Helmers is also averaging 9 points a game. Valerie Ogoke leads the Lions in rebounding at eight a game. As a team, LMU is averaging 67 points a game and shooting 40 percent from the field.
Bulldogs against LMU
The series with the Lions is fairly young as LMU leads the overall series 2-1. In the most recent game LMU defeated the Bulldogs 65-60 on Dec. 21, 2006 at the Save Mart Center. Fresno State's win over LMU was a 68-65 victory on Dec. 11, 1999 in Fresno.
Scouting Long Beach State
Long Beach State has a 1-5 record with its only win being a 64-60 road victory at WAC foe San Jose State. Karina Figueroa leads LBSU in scoring at 12.3 points a game. Tyresha Calhoun is adding 11 points a contest. As a team Long Beach State is scoring 59.7 points a game and shooting 40 percent from the field.
Bulldogs against Long Beach State
Long Beach State leads the overall series with the Bulldogs 19-8. Most of these meetings came when the two schools were in the Big West Conference and the PCAA. Fresno State has won four of the last five meetings. In the most recent game, the Bulldog defeated LBSU 70-65 on December 10, 2003 in Long Beach.
Scoring Machine
Since the end of last season Tierre Wilson has scored in double figures in 16 straight games. Prior to her 22 point performance against No. 13 Cal in the season opener, Wilson's high point performance during the 16 game stretch was 19 points against New Mexico State on Feb. 10, 2007. Including last season, Wilson has led the Bulldogs in scoring in 15 games.
Bulldogs Taking on the State
This year Fresno State plays eight nonconference games against schools from the state of California. The Bulldogs already have played nationally ranked Cal where they lost by only four points. Seven of Fresno State's next eight opponents are against schools from California. Of the seven remaining opponents, Saint Mary's (5-4) and Loyola Marymount (4-4) boast the best records.
