No. 15 Pepperdine Tops Bulldogs, 4-0

MALIBU, Calif. - On a bright sunny Friday afternoon at Eddy D. Field the Fresno State Bulldogs (5-7) dropped their seventh game of the season to the No. 15 Pepperdine Waves (8-3) by a score of 4-0.
The Bulldogs just could not find their swing offensively as they only connected on three hits in 29 at bats while the Waves connected on nine hits in 30 at bats.
Brandon Burke (1-2, 3.63) earned his third start of the season throwing six innings and allowing three runs on six hits. Holden Sprague relieved Burke throwing one and two-thirds innings allowing one run on three hits.
Barry Enright (4-0, 0.83) grabbed his fourth victory of the year throwing a complete-game with a three hits.
Pepperdine jumped on the scoreboard 1-0 in the first inning when Chase d'Arnaud doubled to left field scoring Adrian Ortiz from third base.
The Waves added two more runs 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning when d'Arnaud singled up the middle bringing in Ortiz all the way from second. The second run scored when Luke Salas hit a single straight to center field bringing in D. Brown from second base. Burke and the Bulldogs got out of the inning throwing a strikeout.
In the eighth inning Pepperdine scored one more run ending the score 4-0 in the Waves favor.
Tom Mendonca, Todd Sandell and Steve Susdorf went 1-for-3 on the day.
Fresno State who moves to 5-7 on the season will continue its series against No. 15 Pepperdine (8-3) tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Justin Wilson (2-1, 2.45) is listed as the probable starter for Fresno State against Brett Hunter for Pepperdine.
