FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs appear to be peaking as the national championships are approaching. Fresno State will have a couple tough tests this weekend when the Bulldogs take on Big 12 opponents Oklahoma State and Kansas State. The dual with the Cowgirls is Friday at Noon PT at the Animal Science Arena in Stillwater. Oklahoma State is 6-5 on the season.
On Sunday, the Dogs travel to Manhattan, Kans., to take on the KSU Wildcats at Fox Creek Stables. The Wildcats have won four of their last five events and have impressive recent wins over Georgia and Texas A&M.
One of the top performers on the team has been senior Western rider Sierra Daniels. In Fresno State's win in the "Best of the West" show, Daniels won a pair of dual matches in Western Horsemanship, leading the Dogs to a commanding win.
"Sierra is an outstanding student and one of our best riders," said coach Becky Malmo. "She has really emerged as a team leader and will be a key factor for us when we head to the national championships. She's been a pleasure to work with."
A native of Brentwood, Calif., Daniels graduated from Liberty Union High School where she was active in the National Honor Society. A biology major, Sierra enjoys reading and exercising in her spare time.
Sierra spent some time with Gobulldog.com to answer a few questions.
