Kucerkova Named WAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Renata Kucerkova was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of February 19-25. This is the first honor for the freshman this spring.
Kucerkova played very well last weekend and helped Fresno State go 3-0 during three dual matches in Las Vegas. The three wins also vaulted Fresno State to No. 16 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings.
Kucerkova went 3-0 at the No. 2 spot in singles. She defeated UNLV's Kristina Nedelcheva in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1, beat Long Beach State's Katy Williams, 6-0, 6-1, and topped Florida International's Elge Petrauskaite, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles, Kucerkova and teammate Danon Beatty were a perfect 3-0. The Bulldog duo defeated Florida International's D'Armas and Pazo, 8-5, Long Beach State's Rocha and Tabatruong, 8-3, and UNLV's Razina and Smith, 8-3.
The Bulldogs host Virginia Tech on March 6 at 5 p.m. in the Wathen Tennis Center.
