Mackin, Perkins Earn Academic All-District Honors

Fresno, Calif. - Fresno State sophomore pitcher Robin Mackin was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 First Team announced Thursday. Fresno State sophomore shortstop Haley Perkins was named to the All-District 8 Second Team.

Mackin and Perkins, both in their sophomore seasons, earned their first honor in the first year they were eligible for the award.
Mackin, a Biology-Physiology and Anatomy major, carries a 4.0 GPA and was named to the All-WAC First Team earlier this week. Mackin is 32-9 overall this year in the circle, with a 1.34 earned run average.
Perkins, a Liberal Studies major, carries a 3.46 GPA and was named to the All-WAC First Team earlier this week. Perkins leads the team with a .388 batting average with 58 runs scored and 76 hits in the leadoff spot.
To be elgible for the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
By winning this award, Mackin is eligible to be named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team. Fresno State has had 17 All-Academic selections in the program's history.
