Bulldogs Eliminate Louisiana Tech, 4-2

RENO, Nev. - In a pitchers dual the Fresno State (34-27, 19-17) Bulldogs eliminated Louisiana Tech (35-24, 14-12) by a 4-2 score Friday night at Peccole Park. Justin Wilson battled six innings giving up just two runs on six hits. His nemesis Ryan Rupert threw six and one-third innings giving up three earned runs on seven hits.
Louisiana Tech scored both its runs in the sixth inning. With a runner on a first base Kersten doubled and advanced to third on the throw to home scoring Grunewald. The last run of the game scored on a wild pitch.
Fresno State answered in the bottom of the sixth inning, first with a home run from Erik Wetzel. The home run was Wetzel's second career home run and his first of the season. In the next at bat Loren Storey walked and soon thereafter Steve Susdorf put the Bulldogs up by one at 3-2 on a two run dinger to left field. The home run was Susdorf's 12 of the year.
With bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh Fresno State earned an insurance run on a wild pitch at 4-2.
On the day Danny Grubb and Todd Sandell went 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Susdorf went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Fresno State will battle tomorrow against San Jose State at 11:00 a.m.
