Softball Enters WAC Tournament as No. 2 Seed

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team finished the season with a 42-16 overall record and a 15-3 WAC mark, earning the No. 2 seed in the upcoming WAC Tournament beginning Wednesday, May 9 at Bulldog Diamond.
Fresno State will open the tournament on Wednesday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. against the No. 5 seed San Jose State. The Bulldogs swept the Spartans this past weekend in three games at Bulldog Diamond.
The tournament begins Wednesday afternoon, with No. 6 seed Utah State facing No. 7 seed Louisiana Tech at 3 p.m. Following Fresno State's game, the final game of the first day will feature No. 3 New Mexico State against No. 4 Nevada at 8 p.m. No. 1 seed Hawaii has a bye until Thursday, when they will face the winner of the Utah State/Louisiana Tech game.
The 2007 WAC Tournament features a double-elimination bracket with all seven teams in the tournament. The 2006 tournament featured only six teams, with Nevada winning the WAC title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
With the double elimination tournament, games will begin on Wednesday, May 9 there will be five games on Thursday, three games on Friday and the championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. and a 5 p.m. game if necessary. The winner earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
