Perera Signs Pro Contract

Fresno, Calif. - Former Fresno State basketball star Chantella Perera has signed a professional contract to play basketball for the WNBL Dandenong Jayco Rangers in Australia for the upcoming 2007-08 season. Perera was recently a member of the Sapphires World Championship silver medalist team.
"I am thrilled to be at Dandenong and I am looking forward to being coached by Dale Waters," Perera said in a recent press release released by the Rangers. "I think Dale has a fresh approach and I am sure he can develop my game further. It feels good to be a part of Australian basketball again after playing in the states."
This past year Perera led the Bulldogs in points (15.3), steals (1.7) and assists (3.1), before she joined the Sapphires in May.
"We are thrilled for Chantella as she begins her professional basketball endeavors," Fresno State women's basketball coach Adrian Wiggins said. "She was a great student-athlete and she will be a great pro."
Perera is set to graduate from Fresno State in December with a degree in Business Management.
