Bulldogs Play Final Nonconference Game at UNLV

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State plays its final nonconference game on Friday at 7 p.m. against former Big West and WAC foe UNLV.
Scouting the Rebels
UNLV is 7-5 and have won three of its last four games including a 65-47 victory over Utah State on December 30. Shamela Hampton leads the Rebels in scoring at 14.8 points and in rebounding at 9.2 boards a game.
Bulldogs vs. UNLV
These two schools met regulary when both teams where in the WAC and Big West Conferences. UNLV leads the overall series 14-5 but the Bulldogs have won the last three meetings. The most recent meeting was at the Save Mart Center in the second round of the WNIT tournament where the Bulldogs pulled out a 77-57 victory.
12-Game Start
Fresno State's 8-4 start to the season is tied for the 10th best start to a season in school history. The Bulldogs had one team start the season 11-1 in 1986-87, six teams start the season 10-2, two teams 9-3 and four teams have started the year 8-4.
Fresno State Against the Mountain West Conference
Since the Mountain West Conference formed in 1999, the Fresno State women's basketball team is 5-5 against MWC teams. The Bulldogs are 1-1 against BYU, 1-0 against San Diego State, 1-1 against TCU,1-0 against UNLV and 1-3 against Utah. All four wins have been at the Save Mart Center. The only road win was a 61-55 victory at Utah on November 13, 2006.
Final Game Before Conference Play
Since 2002-03, Fresno State has won five of its last six games before the start of WAC Play. Last year the Bulldogs defeated Cal-State Northridge 69-58.
`Dogs Rank Second in Attendance Among California Schools
Fresno State finished the 2007-08 season ranked second in attendance among all Division I California schools. Stanford was No. 1 at 4,009 fans while Fresno State averaged 2,458 fans a contest. Cal was third at 2,363 with UCLA fourth at 1,675 and USC fifth at 1,316.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 126 3-pointers on 302 attempts in her short career at Fresno State. The 126 three's puts her in fifth place on the Career 3-point Field Goals leaders. She needs 22 3-pointers to pass Chantella Perera and move into fourth place. Her .417 3-point field goal percentage ranks her first on the career 3-point field goal percentage Top 10 list.
