Bulldogs out-distance the competition at the NAU Fourway Challenge

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State dominated the four-way challenge hosted by Northern Arizona at the J.L. Walkup Skydome Saturday, Feb. 9.
The Bulldogs championed 11 of the 15 events at the meet, to take home first with 211 points. Long Beach State came in second with 111 points, Northern Arizona had 76 for third, Southern Arizona totaled 69 and Arizona put up 31 points.
Rayna White won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.66s. Krystina Jackson took fourth in the 60m and Christina Lopez finished in fifth, both timing in at 7.84s. Tiera Hilliard dominated the 200m dash, finishing in 24.84s. Lopez was just behind her at 25.31s for second. White and Katrina Arnold placed fifth and sixth in the 200m respectively. Erica McCoy bested the competition for the 400m crown with a time of 57.63s. Jackson went on to win the 60m hurdles at 8.68s and Vanessa Sautebin took fourth at 8.96s.
The Bulldogs fared well in the distance events as well. Roxanne Sellick won the 1 mile at 5:43.17 with teammate Brianna Cleary in second at 5:47.51. Marina Santana placed third in the 800m run with a time of 2:20.63. Katelyn Lujano finished in sixth at 2:28.03. In the 3,000m run, Marissa McPhail placed third, crossing the finish line at 11:03.41.
The Bulldogs swept the two relays at the meet. The women's 4x400m relay of Hilliard, McCoy, Lopez and Janev Morris out-ran the competition by four seconds for the win at 3:54.80. The distance medley team of Clary, Santana, Sellick, and Erica Embry finished their relay at 14:10.76.
On the field, Fresno State put up big marks for the win as well. Cara Montes won the pole vault, with a season best of 12-1.5 (3.7m). Sarah Savage cleared 11-11.75 (3.65m) for third and Maddy Hintergardt came in fourth at 11-7.75 (3.55m).
Rosario Sanchez championed the shot put with a toss of 49-7 (15.11m). Kayla Zavier had a toss of 43-6.5 (13.27m) for fifth. Sharon Ayala bested the competition in the weight toss, winning with a mark of 60-11.25 (18.57m). Amanda Rollin came in fifth at 53-5 (16.28m).
Shay Miles won the triple jump, leaping 39-0.25 (11.89m). Leshay Dorsey cleared 5-3.75 (1.62m) for third in the high jump. Erica Embry and Courtney Castaneda came in fourth and fifth in the long jump. Embry leapt 17-4 (5.28m) and Castaneda jumped for 16-7 (5.05m).
With the strong team performance under their belt, the Bulldogs take nearly three weeks off before competing at the Indoor Track & Field WAC Championships in Boise, Idaho, beginning Feb. 29.
