Margie Wright Wins 1,100th Game at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. - Head Coach Margie Wright earned her 1,100 victory at Fresno State on Monday in game two of the Bulldogs double-header vs. Eastern Michigan at Bulldog Diamond. Wright is the NCAA's all-time winningest softball coach with 1,263 career wins.
The Bulldogs defeated the Eagles 11-0 in five innings in game one, and 11-3 in game two. Fresno State now improves to 10-3 on the season and 4-0 at home.
Game 1
Haley Perkins hit a leadoff single to center field in the bottom of the first. Haley Gilleland advanced Perkins to second with a sacrifice bunt. Freshman catcher Caitlin Stiglich hit her fourth home run of the season with a two run shot to right center field to give the `Dogs the 2-0 lead.
With still only one out, Jenna Cervantez was hit by a pitch and Aja Schueber walked. Morgan Melloh hit a single to right which scored Cervantez from second to give the Bulldogs the 3-0 lead after one.
Perkins hit her second single to center field in the bottom of the second. She would advance to second on error. Gilleland hit a triple, her first of the year which scored Perkins from second, to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.
Stiglich got her second hit in as many innings with a single to center field. Gilleland scored from third on the hit to make it 5-0 Bulldogs.
Melloh struck out the side in the top of the third. She would end the game with eight strikeouts.
In the bottom of the third with two outs, Nicole Angene walked and stole second for her first stolen base of her career.
The Bulldogs would explode in the fourth inning for six runs. Stiglich was hit by a pitch, and Cervantez hit a single to left center with one out to put runners on first and second. Scheuber hit her second home run of the season, a three run bomb to center field to give the `Dogs the 8-0 lead.
Melloh then hit a double to right center. Michelle Palazuelos would pinch run and score off a double to left field by senior left fielder Ashley White. Lisamarie Coronado hit a blooper to left field which sent White to third. Angene advanced to first on a fielders choice and all runners advanced to load the bases with one out.
Haley Perkins hit an infield single which scored White from third and upped the Bulldogs lead to 10-0.
With the bases loaded, Gilleland walked which scored Coronado from third to make the final 11-0.
Melloh improved to 8-1 on the year and posted her fifth shutout and her sixth complete game. The pitcher also threw her second one-hitter of the season.
Perkins led the team with three hits while Stiglich and Scheuber had three RBI's a piece.
As a team, the Bulldogs had 14 hits, just one shy of the 15 they hit against Indiana at the San Diego State Tournament.
Game 2
Just like she did to leadoff game one, Haley Perkins would leadoff the game with a hit, this time a double to right field. Haley Gilleland would hit an infield single which advanced Perkins to third. Caitlin Stiglich would draw the walk to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the first. The Bulldogs would leave the bases loaded.
Brooke Phipps walked with two outs and stole second in the second in. She would score on a single to right field by Haley Perkins. Gilleland would hit a double of her own to left field to score Perkins to make it 2-0 Bulldogs. Michelle Palazuelos would hit an infield single and Haley Perkins would reach first on an error to put runners at first and second with only one out in the bottom of the fourth.
Gilleland would reach first on an error and Palazuelos would score off an error. Stiglich would then clear the bases with a double to left center and increase the Bulldogs lead to 5-0.
The Eagles would score their first run of the night in the top of the fifth inning off an infield single by Ashley Strauss which cut the Bulldogs lead to 5-1.
Lindsay Milchovich would hit her first double of the season to left field in the bottom of the fifth.
Stacie Skodinski hit a triple to left field for Eastern Michigan to clear the bases with runners on the corners to cut the Bulldog lead to just two, 5-3.
Haley Perkins hit a single to left field and scored off a two run home run to left field by Gilleland, her first of the year to put the Bulldogs up 7-3.
Stiglich singled up the middle and Cervantez hit her fourth home run of the season, a two run shot to left field to make it 9-3 Bulldogs in the bottom of the sixth.
Still with no outs, Scheuber hit a single to right field, followed by a single to center by Milchovich. Mallory Perkins hit a single to center field to clear the bases and end the game 11-3 in the sixth inning.
Nicole Angene picked up her second win of the season as she improves to 2-2. Melloh entered the game in the sixth and earned her first save of her Bulldog career.
Fresno State now improves to 3-0 all time against Eastern Michigan.
The Bulldogs will travel to San Diego for the San Diego Classic Feb. 29-March 2 as they play Oregon, CSUB, Harvard, Saint Peter's and James Madison.
