FRESNO, Calif. - Indiana used a big inning, and held on to win on the final day of the 30th Annual Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic, defeating New Mexico State, 14-6. The win earned the Hoosiers third-place in the week-long tournament hosted by Fresno State.
As with their contest on Tuesday, the Hoosiers had a big inning, scoring nine runs in the fifth. Prior to the frame, the game saw four lead changes and ties. The Aggies committed two errors, and just not seem to make the key out when needed. Centerfielder Andrew Means had one of the big hits, a two-run single up the middle.
Tyler Tufts earned the win, with six innings and four strikeouts. Doug Fleenor pitched scoreless ball for the last three innings for the save.
The Hoosies finished the tournament with a 4-2 record while the Aggies were 2-4.
