Fresno Regional Teams Ready for Action

FRESNO, Calif. - As the four teams in the Fresno Regional of the 2008 NCAA Softball Tournament filtered into Bulldog Diamond on Thursday for practice, they all were focused on one goal: moving on to the Super Regional. The winner of the Fresno Regional, will play the winner of the Gainesville Regional next weekend and fight for a spot in the Women's College World Series.
San Diego State took the field first, bright and early at 9:00 a.m. Each time had one hour and forty-five minutes allotted to practice in Bulldog Diamond.
Cal followed with practice at 11:15. After lunch, Sacramento State took the field, a team familiar with Bulldog Diamond as they played there in early March. The No. 1 seed in the regional, the Bulldogs of Fresno State then finished off the day with a 4:45 p.m. practice in 96-degree weather.
Game 1 will feature California vs. San Diego State on Friday at 5:00 p.m. followed by game 2, Fresno State vs. Sacramento State at 7:30 p.m. Game 3 on Saturday will feature the winners of game 1 vs. game 2 at noon. Game 4 is the loser of game 1 vs. the loser of game 2 at 2:30 p.m.
The final game of Saturday, game 5 of the Regional will see the loser of game 3 take on the winner of game 4.

Fans, the temperature for the first pitch on Friday is supposed to be 100-degrees so please protect yourself and bring sun screen and drink plenty of liquids.
