Bulldogs Fought Hard in Season Opener

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's soccer team lost the season opener 1-0 against University of San Francisco in the final minutes of the match. The Dons senior forward Katherine Kimure scored in the 88th minute of the game.
"It was a hard fought battle from both sides," said Head Coach Steve Springthorpe. "With two minutes left to play we let our guard down and they were able to slip by and score."
Offensively for the `Dogs Nicole Gutierrez contributed five shots, but was an able to put the ball in the goal.
The first half was a battle against the wind. The Bulldogs came out aggressive in the second half and started making plays and getting shots on goal.
"It was a physical game," said Springthorpe. "The ref let a lot of things go and it was a tough battle for us."
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel had six saves for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return home Sunday to face UC Davis at 1 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.

The Bulldogs' home opener is on Sunday, August 24th as they welcome UC Davis to Bulldog Stadium at 1:00 pm. Tickets for the home opener are just ONE DOLLAR at the Bulldog Ticket Office.
