FRESNO, Calif.- - After a 24-7 road win over Big East foe Rutgers on Monday, the Fresno State football team has climbed the national polls from 25th to 21 in the USA Today poll and moved into the rankings at No. 21 in the AP poll. It is the first time since 2005 that the Bulldogs have been ranked in both polls.
"I'm glad to see that people recognized our win over Rutgers as a positive sign about our program," Fresno State coach Pat Hill said. "I'm very proud of the way we played in that game. Moving up the polls is always a good thing, especially at Fresno State where we have high expectation for our program. With Wisconsin (ranked No. 11 in both polls) coming to town next week, it makes for an even bigger match-up. It's a big-time college football game."
Fresno State is the second highest non-BCS team ranked behind No. 15 BYU. Utah is the only other non BCS team ranked as they are 22 in the AP poll and 23 in the USA Today poll after winning at Michigan.
