About Last Week The Bulldogs traveled to take on two of the nation's top teams, Auburn and defending national champion Georgia. Fresno State came away with a pair of losses but gained valuable experience. The highlight of the week was tough battle against Georgia, in which it had to win all five matches in reining to overcome an 8-7 Fresno State lead. The Bulldogs beat Georgia in English, a 5-5 tie-breaker, the first home loss suffered by the Georgia English team in seven years. Jennifer Jory was stellar over the weekend with a pair of wins and winning MVP honors against the Tigers in Equitation over Fences.
Poll Starts Next Week The inaugural Varsity Equestrian Coaches Poll will be released next week. The poll will be announced bi-monthly during the season and will rank the top 10 programs in the nation.
Malmo Moment Quotes from head coach Becky Malmo, who is in her fifth year as Fresno State's head coach: "We are pumped-up coming off holding the lead going into the last event and the English upset at Georgia. However, Texas A&M is a very strong team, and TCU was the national western champion in 2008. Baylor and NMSU have added some great recruits to their already-strong squads, so we have our work cut out for us on our "road warrior" trip."
