PFX Tour Comes to Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. - Former Bulldog softball players Randi and Laura Berg will join other professional softball players in the Pro Fastpitch X-Treme tour as it makes its way through Fresno Oct. 3-5 at Fresno Regional Park.
The Fresno stop is the fourth out of eight across the country that tour is making rounds in this fall. It is the third season of the tour which is headed by former Olympian Dot Richardson.
"The Pro Fastpitch X-Treme tour has been designed and established to provide professional softball to those athletes who finish their collegiate careers and are still looking to play the sport," said Richardson.
Laura Berg is a four-time Olympian and three-time gold medalist that was a four-time All-American at Fresno State and a member of the 1999 National Championship team. Berg also holds four career records she set in her time as a Bulldog.
Randi Berg played at Fresno State from 1994-97 and ranks seventh in school history playing in 263 games in her career.
The tour will feature two games between the professionals, one on Friday (Oct. 3) at 7 p.m. followed by the opening ceremonies and the second on Saturday (Oct. 4) at 12:30 p.m. followed by the autograph session.
"It's exciting to bring the tour to Fresno," added Richardson. "Having played there myself I know that Fresno has some if the greatest softball fans in the world, and it's exciting to give the youth the opportunity to see the professional players and have the chance to meet them."
Fresno State head softball coach Margie Wright will throw out the first pitch at Friday night's game.
Other PFX Professionals and former Olympians in attendance will by Lisa Fernandez, Stacey Nuveman, Jessica Mendoza, Natasha Watley and Tairia Flowers.
"I think it's very exciting to have former Olympians and professional athletes come into the Valley," said Wright. "There is a very long tradition for great softball in here and it's a great opportunity for our fans to come out and see some of the best players to ever play our sport."
The Fresno Regional Park is located at 1707 W. Jensen in Fresno.
