`Dogs Preseason No. 12 by ESPN.com/USA Softball

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State softball team earned its second preseason top 25 honor as the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 ranked the `Dogs No. 12. Last week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) ranked Fresno State No. 14 in its preseason poll.
This is the highest preseason ranking the Bulldogs have earned from the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll since it began at the start of the 2006 season. Last year, the Bulldogs reached as high as No. 9 in the poll during the season and finished No. 15 in the top 25 final poll at the end of the season after posting a 54-13 record and advancing to the NCAA Fresno Regional Championship game.
Twelve of the Bulldogs 2009 opponents were ranked in the top 25 including: No. 1 Florida, No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Michigan, No. 8 Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 11 Northwestern, No. 14 Cal, No. 15 Washington, No. 16 Houston, No. 18 DePaul, No. 20 Long Beach State, No. 21 North Carolina and No. 22 Nevada, while Hawai'i and BYU also received votes.

"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The Fresno State softball team kicks off the 2009 season on Feb. 6 as they take on Wisconsin at the Cathedral City Classic at 5:30 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now for home games at Bulldog Diamond with the season opener set for Feb. 26 vs. Utah Valley University at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Bulldog Ticket Office, calling 278-DOGS or online at gobulldogs.com.
