Bulldogs Open WAC Play vs. Boise State

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State begins WAC play at home as they host Boise State on Monday at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs also host Hawai'i and Idaho this week before embarking a three-game road trip. Scouting the Broncos
Boise State is 8-7 and 1-0 in WAC Play. The Broncos opened conference play with an 60-56 win over in-state foe Idaho. Marisa Stotler leads Boise State in scoring at 9.6 points a game and in rebounding at 6.7 boards a contest. Boise State is shooting 37 percent from the field and averaging 41.2 rebounds a contest.
Bulldogs vs. Boise State
Fresno State leads the overall series 11-9. The two teams each won on their respective home court last year, with the Bulldogs winning 73-63 in Fresno and Boise State winning 82-62 in Boise.
Impressive Nonconference start
Fresno State's 9-4 start nonconference record is the third best nonconference record since the Bulldogs joined the WAC in 1992-93. The best mark came in 2004-05 when the Bulldogs went 9-1 in nonconference action, good for a .900 winning percentage. The 1996-97 team went 7-3, good for a .700 winning percentage while this years teams' 9-4 mark boasts a .692 winning percentage.
WAC Openers
Fresno State is 6-1 in its last seven WAC openers. The Bulldogs have played four of the matchups at home and three on the road. Fresno State's only loss to open WAC play in the last seven years was in 2003-04 when the Bulldogs lost to Hawai'i 48-46. Last year Fresno State defeated Louisiana Tech 75-52 to open WAC play.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 128 3-pointers on 311 attempts in her short career at Fresno State. The 128 three's puts her in fifth place on the Career 3-point Field Goals leaders. She needs 20 3-pointers to pass Chantella Perera and move into fourth place. Her .412 3-point field goal percentage ranks her first on the career 3-point field goal percentage Top 10 list.
Battle of the Boards
Fresno State is out rebounding its opponents 43.9 to 37.4 good for a plus 6.5 margin. The mark is the best in the WAC. The Bulldogs have out rebounded their opponents by 10 rebounds or more in seven games. All seven of those games resulted in wins. Fresno State has 50 rebounds or more in three games.
