Petukhova Wins the Consolation Championship

FRESNO, Calif. - No. 22 Anastasia Petukhova of Fresno State capped off her run at the ITA All-American main draw by capturing the consolation championship, with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 11 Yasmin Schnack of UCLA on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Petukhova utilized the same strengths that have brought her this far -- her speed and her focus -- to garner the victory.
"She continued a strong week," Fresno State head coach Simon Thibodeau said. "She was very focused again and had excellent movement. It's nice to see her stepping up and getting some good singles victories."
The win over Schnack was Petukhova's first over a Top 15 opponent this year.
