No. 6 Texas A&M Edges Bulldogs

FRESNO, Calif. - Despite some excellent individual rides and an MVP performance from senior Keri Blackledge, the Bulldog equestrian team concluded a tough Texas road trip with an 11-8 loss to No. 6 Texas A&M Sunday afternoon.
"All in all, it was a solid road trip," said head coach Dr. Becky Malmo, whose team is ranked No. 9 in the nation. "We saw some excellent performances over the weekend by several young ladies and there is a lot we can work on. While I'm not pleased with the two losses, we did lose some close matches and I know we will improve."
Against the Aggies, Fresno State picked up three points in Equitation over Fences as Lisa Wells, Jessica Kissell and Chelsea Stone all earned wins. Wells scored an 83, the second-highest of any rider in the event.
On the Flat, the Dogs earned a win and a tie, as Caitlin Marshall score an 81 to defeated Megan Webb and Kimmie Steinbuch tied Texas A&M's Elizabeth Solch with a 60.
The Dogs picked up four team points in western events, two each in Reining and Western Horsemanship.
Blackledge continue to be one of the nation's top riders and had a score of 72 to win MVP honors in Reining. Jill Tebbe matched Blackledge's strong score with a 72 to defeated her opponent.
Madison Silver and Sammie Jo Stone each won matches in Western Horsemanship. Silver posted a score of 74.5, the second best of the day. Alli Warkentin had a solid performance, but lost her point to Kelsey Adams 70-69.
Up next, the Dogs will take on two Top 5 ranked teams when the travel to No. 4 Georgia on Friday, Nov. 6, and No. 1 South Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 7.
