FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs are getting more national attention with the announcement today that ESPN has selected the Fresno State vs. New Mexico State football game scheduled for Oct. 24 to air on ESPNU.
It's not surprising this game has been selected for a national broadcast based on the exciting start to the season for the Bulldogs, who despite a 2-3 record, rank 11th in the nation in total offense, 16th in scoring and have the nation's leading rusher in Ryan Mathews.
The game time has been moved to 7:30 p.m. PT to accommodate the national broadcast. It was previously scheduled to be played at 5 p.m. PT.
This is the fourth national television game of the season for the Bulldogs, who also played Wisconsin, Boise State and Cincinnati on ESPN networks.
During this decade, the Bulldogs have made 64 national television appearances, and with each game averaging over three hours, that equates to nearly 200 hours of live nation-wide exposure for the school and the Valley. Fresno State has become a favorite of ESPN, landing on one of the networks' channels (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU) 49 times.
The game was originally scheduled to be televised on the Bulldog Sports Network, which reaches Western Nevada, Northern California, the Central Coast and Valley.
Paul Ladwig, Fresno State's Associate Athletics Director, said BSN will televise the Oct. 31 home game against Utah State to replace the New Mexico State game on the broadcast schedule.
Carter Blackburn and Joe Berger are the announce team assigned to cover the game for ESPNU against the Aggies.
"We Are Your Team" - San Jose State will be at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, October 17 for Homecoming. The Community Food Bank along with the Bulldog Pantry will be hosting a canned food drive so bring canned food to help feed the Central Valley's hungry. Tickets can be purchased at the Bulldog Ticket Office, by calling 278-DOGS or online at GoBulldogs.com.
