McQueen Victorious on Final Day

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State freshman Melissa McQueen finished the Saint Mary's Invitational on a strong note by knocking off Portland's Megan Sporndil, 6-4, 6-4, on Sunday in Moraga, Calif.
McQueen's victory was second match a Bulldog won in the tournament. Laura Pola was the previous player to win a match for Fresno State, when she beat Alexandra Zaniewski of Santa Clara, 6-2, 6-2, on Friday.
In addition to McQueen, Pola and Bianca Modoc competed on Sunday, but were unable to record a win.
Sunday concluded the three-day Saint Mary's Invitational. Fresno State will next be in action at the ITA Northwest Regional, which runs Friday through Monday in Palo Alto, Calif.
