Dogs Embark On Trip to New Places

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - After a season-opening win over San Francisco State at home, the Fresno State Bulldogs embark on the inaugural road trip of the season with visits to Northern Arizona (Nov. 17) and Seattle University (Nov. 19) in uncharted territory. Both games will mark Fresno State's first appearance in the respective road facilities in program history.

About the Lumberjacks
The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, a member of the Big Sky Conference, is 1-1 on the season with a season-opening 113-61 victory over Southwestern and a road defeat at the University of Arizona 87-70. NAU's Cameron Jones leads the Lumberjacks with an average of 20.5 points per game and a blistering 67% (16-24) field goal clip.
Against the Lumberjacks
Fresno State owns a perfect 4-0 overall record against Northern Arizona. The two schools last met on Dec. 4, 1999 when the Bulldogs beat the Lumberjacks, 74-68 in Fresno, Calif. This marks the Dogs first visit to Flagstaff as Fresno State hosted NAU in three of the four previous contests, with the other meeting coming on a neutral floor in Malibu, Calif.
About the Redhawks
The Seattle University Redhawks, a Division I independent program, is 0-1 on the season. Seattle U opened the season on the road with an 86-64 loss at Oklahoma State and visit the University of Portland on Tuesday night. Head Coach Cameron Dollar is in his first season with the Redhawks after seven seasons as an assistant coach at Washington.
Against the Redhawks
The series between Fresno State and Seattle University is tied 1-1. The Bulldogs beat the Redhawks in Fresno, Calif., last season by the score of 79-58 on Nov. 25, 2008, when four Bulldogs scored in double figures led by then-junior Sylvester Seay's team high 22 points and a Paul George double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds). The only other meeting between the schools came in 1961 when Fresno State fell 104-73 to Seattle U.
Smith's Big Debut Powers Dogs to Win and His First Double-Double
Freshman center Greg Smith made a big splash in his collegiate debut as a powerful force on both ends of the floor. Smith, a 6-foot-10 native of Fresno, Calif., earned his first Bulldog double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks in Fresno State's season opening victory over SFSU. He also connected on all six field goal attempts during the contest.

Every Fresno State basketball game is aired live throughout the San Joaquin Valley on KMJ 580 AM. Paul Loeffler enters his second season as the play-by-play announcer for Bulldog men's basketball team along with veteran analyst Randy Rosenbloom adding the color commentary. On the television dial, Ralph returns to call the play-by-play with legendary coach Bob Donewald on KAIL (Comcast Cable 13 and Dish & DirecTV channel 53) for a combination of non-conference and WAC road games, along with the BYU home contest on Dec. 12, 2009. Fresno State will also continue to play on the ESPN Family of Networks at least three times including an ESPNU game on Feb. 27, 2010 against San Jose State.

"We Are Your Team" - The Bulldogs will hit the road to challenge the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Tuesday, November 17, at 5:35 p.m. The game can be heard live on KMJ-580 AM and seen on Fox Sports Net - Arizona. The team will continue their road trip on Thursday, November 19, when they head to Seattle University.
