Dogs Visit Waves Tuesday Night

MALIBU, Calif. - After a resounding 69-37 victory over San Diego to start the week in style, the Fresno State Bulldogs will visit the Pepperdine Waves on Tuesday night (Dec. 8) at 7 p.m. along the Malibu coastline. The Bulldogs will conclude the week on "Conquer the Mountain Saturday" when head coach Steve Cleveland faces BYU, his former team, for the first time. Both games will be shown live on the Bullodg Sports Network (KAIL/ESPN360.com).

Seay Steps Up Aggressiveness, Shining as Leading Scorer
Senior Sylvester Seay extended his streak to three games with more than 20 points when he led the Bulldogs with his first double-double of the season and fourth of his Bulldog career in Sunday afternoon's big 69-37 win versus San Diego. Seay's relentless style of play has helped spark a defensive resurgence and offensive efficiency. As the lone senior on the roster, Seay (San Bernardino, Calif) has begun embracing his leadership role and setting the standard for his younger teammates. Seay leads the team with 17.6 points per game. During his scorching three-game stretch, Seay has averaged 23.3 ppg and 8.0 rpg.
Freshman Smith One of Nation's Most Efficient Shooters
When 6-10 center Greg Smith decided to play for his hometown Bulldogs, head coach Steve Cleveland and his staff knew they were getting a talented front court player and an even more grounded and humble young man. In his first seven games as a Bulldog, Smith asserted his presence in the low post and is in the top 10 in the nation in field goal percentage (31-47; 66.0%). The freshman has notched a team-best three double-doubles.
About the Waves
Pepperdine University, a member of the West Coast Conference, is 3-5 on the season with victories over CSU San Bernardino, Hampton and Monmouth. The Waves have lost a pair of overtime games by three to Pacific (67-64 2OT) and Wyoming (86-83 OT). Pepperdine is led by Keion Bell who paces the team with 22.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, and 4.3 apg. Head Coach Tom Asbury is 137-87 in seven seasons at the school and 222-175 in his 13-year Division 1 career.
Against the Waves
Fresno State trails the overall series 14-11 witht he last victory coming back in 1995 on the road in a 79-76 vcitory. The teams have not met since 1999 when the Waves defeated the Bulldogs 70-68 in Selland Arena.
LAST GAME: Bulldogs Rout Toreros, 69-37
The Fresno State men's basketball team dominated from start to finish on Sunday afternoon against formidable foe San Diego as the Bulldogs applied a suffocating defensive pressure and executed their offensive game plan to a 69-37 victory over the Toreros. The Dogs were sparked up and down the roster and highlighted by senior forward Sylvester Seay's game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds to extend his streak to three games with more than 20 points. Sophomore forward Paul George added nine points, nine rebounds and four steals for Fresno State (3-4), which snapped a four-game losing streak by holding San Diego (4-5) to 18.6 percent shooting and 11 field goals, the best defensive effort in recent memory. The Toreros recently knocked off nationally-ranked Oklahoma, Stanford and Houston.

" -- Your Bulldogs are taking on the Pepperdine Waves in Malibu on Tuesday, December 8th at 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Bulldog Sports Network (KAIL MY53 - Comcast Cable, Channel 13).
