FRESNO, Calif.- After opening the season the season playing playing seven of its first eight games on the road, the Fresno State women's basketball team returns to the Save Mart Center for two games this week. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs host Sacramento State at 7 p.m. and UNLV comes to Fresno on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Fresno State vs. Sacramento State
The Bulldogs lead the series 16-6 and have won the last seven meetings against the Hornets. Sacramento State's last win against the Dogs was December 20, 1992 when they beat Fresno State 82-63 on neutral floor.
Scouting Sacramento State
Sacramento State is 2-5 with wins at Washington and Seattle U. Charday Hunt leads the Hornets in scoring and rebounding at 17.6 points a game and 6.6 rebounds a contest. She also leads the Big Sky in scoring. Emily Christensen is averaging 11.6 points and six rebounds a game. Sac State is averaging 76 points a game and shooting 36 percent from the field.
1,000 Points
Jaleesa Ross has scored 1,034 points in her career at Fresno State. She needs 154 points to pass Careana Clay (1981-84) and move into 10th place on the Bulldog career scoring list for most points. Chantella Perera is in ninth place with 1,234 points. Ross is one of only 16 Bulldogs who have surpassed 1,000 points.
Recapping Last Week
The Bulldogs went 2-0 last week on the road, beating UC Irvine 63-60 and Loyola Marymount, 82-68. Emma Andrews had a career-high 23 points in the win over LMU and Jaleesa Ross averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds in the two games.
Ross Climbing the School Record Books
Jaleesa Ross has hit 213 3-pointers in her two plus seasons as a Bulldog. The 213 3-pointers ranks her third on the schools career Top 10 list for 3-pointers made. She needs 10 3-pointers to pass Staci Oddo (1993-96) and move into second place. Her 95 3-pointers made last season is a new Fresno State single season record, breaking the previous mark of 89, set by Ross last year and Lindsay Logan in 2000-01. The 95 3-pointers ranks Ross is fifth on the single season Top 10 list in the WAC for most 3-pointers made in a year.
Win No. 100
Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins earned his 100th victory at Fresno State on Saturday's 82-68 victory at Loyola Marymount. Wiggins earned his 100th win in his 137th game while Bob Spencer (1981-93) earned his 100th win in his 166th game. Spencer was 198-147. Wiggins is currently 100-47.
